Crispin Freeman Private Coaching

One hour private sessions with Crispin Freeman via Zoom

For students of Crispin’s who are looking for additional help or specific guidance, Crispin is now offering one-on-one coaching via Zoom online.

Private Coaching with Crispin Freeman is only available to students who have taken his Online Voice Acting Workshop.
If you have not yet taken Crispin’s Online Voice Acting Workshop, you are NOT eligible for private coaching.

Why is it important to take Crispin’s Online Voice Acting Workshop first?

Crispin wants his students to get the most value for their time and money. In his Online Voice Acting Workshop, you learn his vital conceptual framework for approaching acting. If you don’t take the Online Voice Acting Workshop first, you will have to spend most of your coaching hour catching up on Crispin’s acting concepts instead of having time to practice acting and get notes from Crispin.

Private Coaching with Crispin Freeman is available in one-hour increments.

Requirements:

  1. You must have already taken Crispin’s Online Voice Acting Workshop.
  2. You must have a webcam and a light source so Crispin can see your face during your coaching.
  3. You must be able to use the Zoom program to videoconference with Crispin online.
  4. You must have a dedicated microphone to use during the coaching.
Built-in microphones on your computer or laptop are not allowed.
Ideally you should have a professional USB or XLR microphone, but a headset microphone will suffice.
  5. You must be wearing headphones. (If you are using a headset microphone, the headphones are already built into the structure of the headset.)

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why can’t I use my computer’s built-in microphone?
In order for Crispin to hear your voice acting and evaluate it effectively, your microphone needs to be in close proximity to your mouth, no more than 8 inches away. Therefore, any built-in microphone on your computer will be too distant to pick up your voice clearly. Also, built-in microphones are usually of very low quality and do not capture the true quality of your voice. For these reasons, you must use either a professional USB or XLR type microphone or use a headset during your coaching session.

Why do I need to wear headphones?
You will need to hear Crispin’s direction clearly during the coaching. Therefore, you will need to wear headphones in order to avoid any feedback or “echo” effects when he gives you notes. If you do not use headphones, his comments will come out of speakers and the audio may be picked up by your microphone, creating a noisy feedback loop. If you are using a headset microphone, the headphone functionality is built into the unit.

Do I really have to take the Online Voice Acting Workshop before I sign up for a private coaching with Crispin?
YES! Private coaching works best when you and the teacher have already spent some time together in a group setting. If you take the Online Voice Acting Workshop first, you will already be familiar with Crispin’s acting approach, and you will have had a chance to observe fellow students working with his methods. This way you won’t be wasting your coaching time by having Crispin explain acting concepts, and you’ll get more time to act and receive feedback from him during your session.
