For those of you who are not able to travel to Los Angeles, I now offer Voice Acting Workshops online, so you can train with me from the comfort of your home via webcam! The focus of this class is to give you a solid conceptual framework for voice acting, and to teach you what it takes to quickly bring characters to life in an audition situation. The entire class takes place as an online webinar. You’ll be performing short scenes from real animation scripts while I guide and direct you. Not only will I give you notes on your own performances, but you’ll benefit from observing as I direct your classmates. You’ll develop important voice acting skills such as cold reading, audition analysis and taking direction on the fly. Emphasis is also placed on helping you find your casting niche and on increasing your believability as an actor.

The class is limited to ONLY 8 people and slots fill up quickly, so sign up today!

NOTE: Please be sure of your availability before signing up. I do not offer refunds if you cannot show up to class.

NOTE: You must meet the Class Requirements and the Technical Requirements below or you will not be able to participate in the Online Voice Acting Workshop.

Class Requirements:

  1. Previous acting experience is not required for this class, but you must have a sincere desire to learn and a respectful attitude towards your fellow classmates and myself.
  2. You must have a webcam and a light source so I can see your face during class.
  3. You must have a dedicated microphone to use during class.
Laptop built-in microphones will not work.
Ideally you should have a professional USB or XLR microphone, but a headset microphone will suffice.
If you need to purchase a headset, I can recommend the Sennheiser PC 8 USB Headset for this class
  4. You must be wearing headphones. (If you are using a headset microphone, the headphones are already built into the structure of the headset.)

Technical Requirements:

  1. Online classes are held using the Zoom.us online webinar system.
Your computer and internet connection must meet the Minimum System Requirements for Zoom.us.
Please also check out Zoom’s Getting Started Guide to make sure you have everything set up on your computer correctly.
  2. Your internet connection must have at least a 1.5 Mbps download speed and a 0.6 Mbps upload speed.
Also, your internet connection must have a Ping number below 100ms.  Click the button below to test your system.
Test your internet speed on SpeedTest.net
  3. I recommend you Download the Zoom.us Software and check your audio settings well before class time. Be prepared!
  4. If your system meets all of the above requirements, then you can participate in the Online Voice Acting Workshop.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why can’t I use my computer’s built-in microphone?
In order for me to hear your voice acting and evaluate it effectively, your microphone needs to be in close proximity to your mouth, no more than 8 inches away. Therefore, any built-in microphone on your computer will be too distant to pick up your voice clearly. Also, built-in microphones are usually of very low quality and do not capture the true quality of your voice. For these reasons, you must use either a professional USB or XLR type microphone or use a headset during the online class.

Why do I need to wear headphones?
You will need to hear my direction clearly during class. Therefore, you will need to wear headphones in order to avoid any feedback or “echo” effects when I give you notes. If you do not use headphones, my comments will come out of speakers whose audio may be picked up by your microphone creating a noisy feedback loop. If you are using a headset microphone, the headphone functionality is built in to the unit.

How can I be the first to know when the next class will be offered?
Easy! Just sign up for my Online Voice Acting Workshop Mailing list! Once you sign up for the list, you’ll be the first to know about upcoming classes!

Is there a minimum age requirement for your classes?
No, there is no minimum age requirement for any of my classes. My only requirement of my students is a sincere desire to learn and a respectful attitude towards your fellow classmates and myself. All ages are welcome to take my classes.

I can’t make it to the class I signed up for. Do you offer refunds?
I do not offer refunds if you cannot attend a class you signed up for. Please be sure of your availability before signing up for classes. I have a limited number of spaces available in each class and I keep my classes small on purpose so I can give the maximum amount of attention to each student. If you don’t show up for class it means you kept someone else from signing up who wanted to be there. If you have an emergency and you absolutely can’t make it to class, please inform me ASAP at classes@voiceactingmastery.com.

I have a question about your classes that wasn’t answered in the FAQ.
If you have any other questions about my online classes, please feel free to e-mail me at classes@voiceactingmastery.com. I’ll do my best to respond promptly.
